A capability comparison against the main India-built alternatives for study libraries and reading halls — including three things Libron does not do.
We build Libron, so treat this page accordingly — and check it yourself. Every competitor row records only what that vendor advertises on its own public website, read in August 2026.
“Not advertised” does not mean “not supported.” It means the capability was not mentioned on the page we read. A product may well do it without marketing it, so treat those cells as a prompt to ask, not as a mark against anyone. We have not tested competitor products and do not claim to know how they work internally.
There are no prices on this page. They change often enough that any figure here would be wrong before long — check each vendor's pricing page directly.
If you work on one of these products and a row is wrong, tell us at our contact page and we will correct it.
Libron has no book catalogue, no ISBN records and no issue/return circulation. If you lend books, use an ILS such as Koha — this is a different product for a different business.
Members cannot pay you through Libron. There is no student-facing payment gateway, so fees are recorded after they happen rather than collected in the app. Several products above do collect online.
Libron does not distinguish payment method. A payment is an amount, a date and the months it extends — so 'how much came in by UPI versus cash' is not a report you can run today.
| Capability | Libron | ManageDesk | Librify | Libly | Libraryly | 24Library | My Abhyasika |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Multiple shifts per seatSelling one desk to a morning and an evening member is how most Indian reading libraries reach full revenue. Software that assumes one member per seat caps what the room can earn. | checkYes | checkYes | checkYes | checkYes | checkYes | checkYes | removeNot advertised |
| Visual seat mapA colour-coded layout matching your actual floor, rather than a numbered list, is what lets you answer a walk-in immediately. | checkYes | checkYes | checkYes | checkYes | checkYes | checkYes | checkYes |
| QR attendance (no hardware)Members scan from their own phones, so you can start tracking attendance without buying a device. | checkYes | removeNot advertised | checkYes | checkYes | checkYes | checkYes | removeNot advertised |
| Biometric attendanceWorth it at scale, and the tamper-proof option if members share QR codes. Check whether it is required or optional. | checkYes | checkYes | removeNot advertised | removeNot advertised | removeNot advertised | checkYes | checkYes |
| WhatsApp fee remindersNow table stakes in this category — every vendor here advertises it. Compare how much control you get over timing and wording, not whether it exists. | checkYes | checkYes | checkYes | checkYes | checkYes | checkYes | checkYes |
| Members can pay onlineA payment gateway means members settle fees through the software. Without one, you record payments that happened elsewhere. This is the clearest gap in Libron's column. | closeNo | removeNot advertised | checkYes | removeNot advertised | checkYes | checkYes | checkYes |
| Expense trackingRent, electricity, staff and water are what stand between revenue and profit. Software that tracks only income tells you half the story. | checkYes | removeNot advertised | checkYes | removeNot advertised | removeNot advertised | removeNot advertised | removeNot advertised |
| Locker managementLockers are a common add-on revenue line, and billing them alongside the seat plan saves a parallel register. | checkYes | removeNot advertised | removeNot advertised | checkYes | removeNot advertised | removeNot advertised | removeNot advertised |
| Multi-branchMatters the day you open a second hall. Check whether it is included or reserved for a higher tier. | checkYes | checkYes | checkYes | removeNot advertised | checkYes | checkYes | checkYes |
| Role-based staff accessA receptionist should mark attendance without seeing your revenue. One shared login means choosing between staff access and your own time. | checkYes | checkYes | checkYes | removeNot advertised | removeNot advertised | checkYes | checkYes |
| Android app for ownersMost owners check occupancy from home in the evening. A browser-only tool gets used less, and half-used software produces data you cannot trust. | checkYes | removeNot advertised | checkYes | checkYes | checkYes | checkYes | checkYes |
| Free plan with no time limitA billing cycle has an intake, a renewal wave and a batch of expiries. A short trial ends before you have seen any of them. (Several vendors here offer trials instead; terms differ — check current terms directly.) | checkYes | removeNot advertised | checkYes | checkYes | removeNot advertised | checkYes | removeNot advertised |
| Book cataloguing and issue/returnOnly relevant if you lend books. If you do, most of this category is the wrong tool entirely and you want an ILS such as Koha. | closeNo | checkYes | removeNot advertised | closeNo | removeNot advertised | removeNot advertised | removeNot advertised |
If you lend physical books rather than sell seats, none of the above is the right category — look at Koha or, for government libraries, e-Granthalaya. We explain the split in our guide to library management software in India.
